Grill-Roasted American Beer Can Chicken Recipe
This is known to be a member of the family of the famous “Drunken Chicken” which has its root in the Mainland China. The chicken prepared using the wine or alcoholic products fall under this category. The alcohol gives an immense taste to the chicken that cannot be defined in words. It is the expression and happiness that can define its taste and effect of the alcohol over the chicken. The following is the authentic way of preparing the American variety of the drunken chicken or the beer chicken.
Ingredients For seasoning
Salt – 1 tea spoon
Cardamom powder – 1 tea spoon
Cumin powder – 1 tea spoon
Cinnamon powder – 1 tea spoon
Chili powder – 1 tea spoon
Ginger & garlic powder – 1 tea spoon
Brown sugar – 1 tea spoon
In a bowl mix all the above spices to form the seasoning which is to be applied over the chicken
Ingredients
Chicken – 1 Whole
Beer can – 1 (any choice of brand)
Butter – 20 gms (3 Oz)
Method –
1) Take the chicken and clean it properly remove the giblets from it.
2) After cleaning the chicken rub butter on it thoroughly so that the seasoning can stick on it properly.
3) Open the beer can and take out 50% of the beer and keep only half filled.
4) Now put the following ingredients inside the beer bottle:-
a) Butter
b) Tea-spoon of the above mixed spices
c) Garlic cloves – 2
5) Slowly place the marinated chicken over the beer can so that the beer can go inside properly.
6) Place the chicken in standing position over the grill oven, close the oven cover and let it cook for 1 hour complete on medium heat, but keep checking and rotating it after every 15 minutes.
7) This will result in giving the dish a two types of cooking first being the steaming from inside and the other being the fire roasting from outside.
8) The chicken will be ready after an hour, in between do check the fire and apply coal if required.
9) Take the chicken out and enjoy it with the remaining beer that was preserved earlier.
