Indian Style Cucumber Raita Recipe
Raita is one of the classic dishes in the Indian cuisine and is famous in many parts of Pakistan, Bangladesh. This recipe is a very quick and delicious, and it is known to be an Indian version of the dip. This dish is popular in summer times and served as a side dish with the main course. The process described here is an authentic way to make the Cucumber raita .
Serving: 3-4 Persons
Ingredients
Cucumber – 1 medium sized
Curd / yogurt – 200 gms (Well beaten)
Green Chili – 1 (Chopped)
Salt: To Taste
Black Pepper: 2 Pinches (To taste)
Sugar: 2 Table Spoon (Optional)
Chat Masala: 2 Pinches (To taste)
Cumin Seeds: 1 table spoon
Crushed Mustard Seeds: 1 table spoon
Vegetable Oil: 2 Table Spoon
Curry Leaves: 2
Cilantro / Coriander
Method For Seasoning
1) Take a pan and pour about 2 table spoon of vegetable oil in it.
2) Put the pan on medium heat and when the oil become hot, add crushed mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
3) Cook until cumin seeds turn brown, when it get done turn off the heat and add 1-2 curry leaves.
Your seasoning is ready and keep it aside.
Method
1) Cut the top and grate the cucumber (If you wish you can peel it before grating).
2) Take the beaten yogurt, add the grated cucumber to it and mix them well.
3) Now add chopped green chilies, some black pepper powder, some chat masala, salt (to taste) and sugar to the mixture and mix them well.
4) After mixing them well, pour the seasoning mixture over it and mix them well.
5) In the end garnish raita with chopped cilantro or coriander leaves.
Your cucumber raita is ready to serve. Hope you enjoy it!
Note:
1) Sugar is option, you can also skip it.
2) If there’s excess water in grated cucumber, than remove it by squeezing it.
