1) First of all don’t panic and remember your car will usually float for a minute or two before it begins to sink. The electrical system should work until the car is submerged, so use this time to unfasten your seat belts, open windows and unlock doors.

2) If you can’t open the window you need to break it. Break your side window with you elbow or some sharp edged tool like pen, screwdriver or tools specifically designed to break the car windows. Break it at the corners. Don’t try on wind shield as it made to be unbreakable.

3) If your car is sinking slowly remove your shoes and jeans as they will pull you down, making swimming to the surface more difficult. Climb Out the window before the car is submerged.

4) If you can’t escape via window. Don’t panic, let the car filled with water as after it the pressure outside will become equal to pressure inside and door will get open.

5) When water level inside the car reaches you chin take a deep breathe and hold it, than open the door and swim out. If you are not sure which way is up, bubbles will indicate what direction to swim in.
