National Doctors’ Day
National Doctor Day is mostly celebrated by hospitals, dispensaries and other healthcare organization to recognize the contributions of doctors to individual lives and societies.
This day is celebrated on different dates in different countries.
1) In United States March 30, is recognized as National Doctors’ Day in honor of anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery. On March 30, 1842, in Jefferson, Georgia, Dr. Crawford Long used ether to anesthetize a patient, James Venable, and exercised a painless surgery.
2) In Cuba December 3, is recognized as National Doctors’ Day in honor of Carlos Juan Finlay. Carlos Juan Finlay born on December 3, 1833 was a Cuban physician and scientist recognized as a pioneer in yellow fever research.
3) In India July 1, is recognized as National Doctors’ Day in honor of legendary physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on July 1, 1882 and died on the same date in 1962.
4) In Iran: August 23, is observed as National Doctors’ Day in honor of Avicenna. He was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age

3) Special meetings are organized to speak on the contributions of doctors for their performances
