   Hello… I thought I would add a little backstory to a particular picture you have here, because the tattoo cannot be properly appreciated without understanding the code.

   It is the one you labelled, “Black Nautical Star Tattoo On Girl Both Knee”. In fact, this tattoo is making a very particular statement. I don’t know if she is ethnic Russian or if she has done time herself, but those stars mean something very specific in the language of Russian prison tattoos, particularly with the vory v zakone – thieves in law.

   One is marked as a vor with the earning of these particular stars to the knees and shoulders. The knees are a little more forgivable but I very much hope she did not also get the vory stars on her shoulders without earning them because that could be very… problematic. But the stars upon the knees represent the fact that your knees will always be above the stars, you kneel to no man and to no authority outside of the thieves law.

   So this woman is making a very subtle statement, with the words on her hands, she claims to be arrogant, and indicates that she can be submissive to the right partner, but then on her knees, in a truly secret code that would not make sense to but a few thousand people in the world, she is saying that inside, she kneels to no man, and recognizes no authority.

   Anyway, I thought maybe you would enjoy knowing this fact, as it helps one to appreciate the intention of the photograph so much more. 🙂
